North Carolina Outward Bound Schools: About Us: Press: News Releases ![]() Innovative Programming - November 16th, 2001PUBLIC WILDERNESS PROGRAMS
Thousands of individuals complete public wilderness programs each year, drawn by opportunities to challenge themselves and explore their potential as individuals, members of a team and as leaders. Led by experienced instructors, teams of eight to 12 participants traverse wilderness areas acquiring new skills and applying them during progressively challenging exercises. About a quarter of our participants receive full or partial scholarship support. OUTWARD BOUND PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS For more than 15 years, North Carolina Outward Bound has provided results-oriented programs for business groups ranging from front-line supervisors to senior executives. The typical Outward Bound Professional program is a three- to six-day wilderness course. Shorter programs are also available at client-selected conference centers or parks. The Home Depot, Cox Enterprises and Microsoft are just a few Outward Bound Professional clients. GROUP EDUCATION PROGRAMS North Carolina Outward Bound provides wilderness courses for high school, college and civic groups as well as educators. These custom experiential learning programs are designed to produce outcomes specifically related to the group’s goals and objectives. Some clients include Girl Scouts of the USA; Ransom Everglades School, Fla.; and Savannah Country Day School, Ga. COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS North Carolina Outward Bound also offers unique scholarship programs for students from select communities in partnership with local schools and organizations and funded by donations from those communities.
